We’re giving you another 2FA method

“You asked us for another back-up option so you can access your Healthcode Account without your phone. We listened and now it’s happening” says Charles Burns, Product Owner – Healthcode Account.

Last year, we brought in 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) to ensure that only customers can access their Healthcode Account. The added security is a no-brainer at a time when cyber attacks on healthcare providers are becoming more frequent.

We’re delighted that so many of you have already completed the 2FA set-up process and are using a code generated by an authenticator app or text message to access our services. Your feedback made it clear that you’d like an easier way to recover your account if you can’t use your mobile for any reason.

To ensure 2FA works smoothly for everyone, without compromising security, we’re adding email as a back-up option so you can still access your product and services without the need to type in a recovery code or contact Customer Services.

• Choose your default 2FA method, the authenticator app (which we recommend) or text message

• Select a secondary authentication method which now includes your login email address (along with either the authenticator app or text message options).

• Click the email box to receive your secure code to your linked address so you can verify your identity

• You’ll see onscreen confirmation as soon as you’ve entered this code and your chosen 2FA methods will be highlighted

You’ll be able to use email as a secondary 2FA method from March. All we ask is that you have at least one secondary option to enable you to recover your account and get on with your working day.

If you’ve still got your list of recovery codes, they’ll also be valid too.
