No, there's no charge.

We don't provide a front-end interface to ICE. The only access to the solution is through our APIs - by you writing one integration link with ICE all your customers will benefit from having access to everyone else in the network.

You'll need to get client credentials before you begin the process and talking to our Business Development team is the place to start.

You may also be interested in downloading the latest Postman API files to get an idea of what APIs we're using although the real value of these is when you get your credentials and actually fire off queries.

We believe this is the way forward - FHIR is already the industry standard for healthcare in the UK. The NHS use it and we know that some of the larger private organisations are also already using it so there’s no reason to reinvent the wheel.

The NHS is getting rid of their NHS Booking - FHIR API which is based on the older FHIR STU3 standards. They're moving to a new system known as The Booking and Referral Standard - this uses FHIR v4.0.1 which is the standard ICE uses.

Some development work will be required by each integrator but the important message is that they’ll only need to write one integration into our system to establish a connection with many.

It's up to you to figure out how to process the patient details received in a booking. Your system must check for a match to an existing patient using the name, date of birth and postcode and/or any of the reference numbers supplied. You'll then need to decide what's needed to prove it's a positive match, a possible match - and how you flag this - or a definite new patient.
