VEDA (ebiller) is a system developed by Healthcode, which uses the Internet to securely distribute and validate Hospital and Specialist bills to Private Medical Insurance (PMI) companies. It works in conjunction with Hospital and practice systems and enables Healthcode to act as the UK 's medical bills clearing house.
Our systems deliver validated bills ready to be loaded into Insurer and payor adjudication or payment systems - without the need to process paper in the post room or key data.
Patient billing records captured on the Hospital Patient Administration System (PAS) or the Specialist Practice Management System are submitted to HC VEDA®. For hospitals, internal charge codes are mapped to Healthcode's proprietary Industry Standard Codes (ISC's) that are in turn mapped to and recognised by all participating insurers. Bills containing all the information required by the relevant insurer pass validation and are held on Healthcode servers until insurers collect them for processing. Over 95% of our bills pass first time, but should a bill fail validation it is displayed on VEDA (ebiller) with ‘reasons why' and prompts to fix the bill. Once satisfactorily amended by the provider it passes through the Healthcode validation cycle and awaits insurer pick up.The system generates a receipt for each bill collected so the provider knows exactly where it is. Some insurers also issue electronic status responses and remittance advices – which in turn can be downloaded into the provider system for automatic account reconciliation.
Virtually every UK Private Hospital and a growing number of Specialists trust Healthcode to send their invoices electronically via the Internet to insurers.
